Rachel Giffin

Trained at the Arts Educational in Royal Academy Ballet (RAD) to advanced level and at Ballet Rambert, in classical and contemporary dance, Rachel is well acquainted with rigorous hardwork and discipline of the body. Professional performances include Die Fledermaus at the Colisuem with Lesley Garrett and recordings at the BBC and most recently in the Hula hoop  sport relief TV ad campaign alongside Ben Fogle.

Leaving the dance world to pursue a more commercial career off-stage and following a successful stint in Public Relation, Rachel went on to co-found a below-the-line creative agency and sold it to an AIM-listed PLC.

A move to the music industry beckoned, working with the artists Dido and Faithless. Most recently running the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation for President Gorbachev and the Lebedev family for 4 years, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the London based fund, helping to raise over £5 million for children with cancer.

After years of being office-bound in a stressful work environment, it became clear the time was right to move towards a more holistic and less sedentary lifestyle.

Having first tried yoga aged 15 as a way to augment her dance practice, what followed was 20 years intermittently practicing the major styles of yoga.

The strength, concentration and discipline required in the dedicated yoga practice, bore many similarities to her early training and Rachel decided the time was right to leave the office life behind and immerse herself in the art and science of yoga by travelling to India.

First introduced to Sivananda yoga in Kerala, twice daily 2-hour lessons became a ‘balm for the senses’ and upon returning to London the practice became a soothing way of life.

Following an intensive month in a Sivananda ashram in the traditional gurukulu system of living with and learning directly from the swamis, a yoga siromani (teacher) immerged and the mission to share the myriad physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga commenced.
